Go fishing in lakes, rivers, and fjords
A lucky day!
The name of the farm, Fossane, is Norwegian for "The Waterfalls", and indeed, we do have waterfalls on the farm. These connect numerous lakes of variable sizes, from small ponds in the river to lakes that are a couple of kilometres long.

In all these lakes, you are sure to find trout, from the smallest of just a hundred grams up to sizes of half a kilo. As long as you are a guest on the farm, fishing on parts of our property is free. You can also buy cheap licences that will cover fishing in vast areas mountain areas reachable by foot. We also have boats and a canoe on the nearest lake (300 m from the houses), to be used free of charge.

Fishing for salmon is also highly possible. A short walk from the farm is a rich salmon river, with a yearly "harvest" of about 700 kg of salmon. For around 100 kr a day, you can go fishing here, and with a little bit of luck, you will have a 20 kg salmon in your luggage on your way home. You can also go fishing in close by famous rivers such as Årdalselva and Suldalslågen.

We live only 4 km from a deep fjord, Jøsenfjorden. If you don't have any luck there, feel free to go to Hjelmeland, the city centre, 20 km from Fossane, where you can try catching ocean fish from a boat.
